Semester Study Abroad
Undergraduate BME students have the opportunity to participate in the University of Miami's Study
Abroad program coordinated by the University's Office of International Education and Exchange Programs.
This exchange program allows students to complete one semester abroad at a host Institution which
partners with the University of Miami. A list of partner institutions, information on how to apply for
the program, and other study abroad opportunities can be found at the web site of the
Office of International
Education and Exchange Programs.
Students interested in the study abroad program should consult their academic advisors well in
advance to select appropriate courses to be taken at the host institution. Given the structure
of the BME curriculum, the optimal semester for Study Abroad is the First Semester of the
Junior Year. PreMed students seeking admission to a medical program are strongly advised to
take all of their Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry courses at the University of Miami.
The BME advisor will work with the student to develop a study program that will allow him/her to spend
a semester abroad without delaying graduation. Examples of study abroad curricula are provided below.
A list of other approved institutions and courses is available in the BME Department's office.

Semester at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia
